Do We Really Serve the Same God Part 1

June 9, 2019

I have heard throughout my life the phrase (or something strikingly similar) “It doesn’t matter where you go to church.  We all serve the same God.”  Is that a true statement?  As I look at the God that many serve in denominations and evangelical, charismatic, or Pentecostal churches I see a much different God than the God I serve.  I see them serving a much different God than I read about in the Bible.   We confess that we know God, not by our words, but by our deeds.  In Titus 1:16 speaking of those who “profess to know God”, the scriptures say, “… but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.” There are many who “profess” to know God today, but by their disobedience in their walk, work, and worship they clearly deny God.

Therefore, I submit unto you that:

If you truly know God… then you know that He created the world in six 24 hour days. Genesis 1

If you truly know God… then you know that He is the only one true living God.  Exodus 20:1-5

If you truly know God… then you know that He wants you to know Him. John 1:9-13, I John 5:20

If you truly know God… then you know that you can’t know Him through worldly wisdom.  1 Corinthians 1:21

If you truly know God… then you know that He loves the world.  John 3:16

If you truly know God… then you know that you can only know Him by keeping His commandments.  I John 2:3-4

If you truly know God… then you know that the only way to be His disciple is by being baptized.  Matthew 28:20

If you truly know God… then you know He expects you to fear and reverence Him.  Philippians 2:12

If you truly know God… then you know that a day of judgment is real.  II Peter 3:7

If you truly know God… then you know that hell is reserved for those who do not know God, nor obey His gospel.  II Thessalonians 1:7-9

If you truly know God… then you know it is a terrible and terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God, and that He does not accept a sinful lifestyle for Christians.  Hebrews 10: 26-31

If you truly know God… then you know that you have to believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God in order to have your sins forgiven. Acts 10:43

If you truly know God… then you know that you have to confess His Son to be saved. Romans 10:10

If you truly know God… then you know that you have to repent of your sins for them to be forgiven. Acts 3:19

If you truly know God… then you know that you have to be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins; for salvation.  Acts 2:38, 22:16; I Peter 3:21
