When you hear names like Esther, Abigail, Enoch, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Caleb, Paul; do you fear those names? What is there to fear; right? These are great people of righteousness! But did their adversary fear them? What about your adversary today; do you think he fears you?
“Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. (“Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” ~ James 4:7)For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.” ~ (Ephesians 6:10-13)
This epic spiritual battle is playing out in the lives of Christians every single day. Are we standing firm or running away? Are we standing firm or cowering in fear? Are we spiritually armored or are we naked and barren and defenseless? In this epic spiritual battle; do we fear more our enemy, or does he fear more us?
Satan has no cause to fear those who are already his. If you aren’t a Christian, if you are living in the world, of the world, and/or for the world then Satan has nothing to fear. You are already his. (Ephesians 2:1-3) But also, if you are “Christian” who is not living like one then Satan has nothing to fear. Want to know the type of servant of God Satan fears? Look no further than the book of Ephesians.
Satan fears parents who bring their children up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord. ~ Ephesians 6:4
Satan fears children who honor, respect, obey, and love their parents. ~ Ephesians 6:1-3
Satan Fears husbands who love their wives. ~ Ephesians 5:33
Satan fears wives who love their husbands. ~ Ephesians 5:33
Satan fears Christians who worship with zeal in spirit and truth. ~ Ephesians 5:19
Satan fears Christians who are shine forth the light of Christ. ~ Ephesians 5:7-16
Satan fears Christians who love as Christ has loved. ~ Ephesians 5:1-2
Satan fears those walk not like the Gentiles walk, but like Christ. ~ Ephesians 5:17-32
If you are not living all of those principles that are applicable to you; then why does Satan need to fear you? But if you are living all of those principles that are applicable; what a force for righteousness in the kingdom you are, and know that your name is not just known by your Master, but by your enemies as well. (Acts 19:15)
What about today? Think back to those names we mentioned in the beginning; Esther, Moses, David, etc. Does Satan still fear them? You know he does! Why? Because their righteous influence still lives on! What about you? Ask yourself this, “Because of my walk of faith, work of love, and worship in zeal will Satan not only fear my name now, but fear my name for generations to come?” If the answer is “Yes”, then may you “excel still more”. (I Thessalonians 4:1) If the answer is “no”, what changes will you make?
What kind of person, what kind of Christian, are you going to be? A friend of Satan or a friend of Jesus? A soldier for the kingdom of light and life, or a soldier for the kingdom of sin and death? In your life will you, are you, taking up the armor of God and fighting the good fight of faith in the kingdom of God? Are you a soldier whose name is known, not by brotherhood papers, not by Facebook “Fame”, but known by your enemy because you are a faithful, zealous, “strong in the Lord and the strength of His might” soldier of Christ! Live to serve God in righteousness, and you will live to make Satan fear you!
