Where Were You Lord?
Where were you dear Lord
When in suffering I arose
From a night full of crying
From life’s torturous woes
Where were you dear Lord
When my heart hurt so bad
From my life’s vain pursuits
And all the failures I’ve had
Where were you dear Lord
When in my greatest fears
My face was buried in my hands
And wet from streaming tears
Where were you dear Lord
When all my doubts arose
About my faith and hope in You
And the path of life I chose
Where were you dear Lord
When anguish filled my life
To replace the ones I loved so dearly
Who left this world of strife
Where were you dear Lord
When joy and happiness were gone
When depression and anger filled my soul
With every waking dawn
Where were you dear Lord
When betrayal beseeched my heart
When those trusted as loyal friends
Had played the devil’s part
Where were you dear Lord
When I could simply bear no more
Sacrificing the armor of God
For an armor of sin which I wore
You were hanging from a cross
For all to look and see
Your great and holy sacrifice
Made for worthless me
You were hanging from a cross
All my sorrow and sins you bore
And here I still question
Why for me, you haven’t done more
You were hanging from a cross
This clearly now I see
Sacrificing for the least of men
When you gave yourself for me.
(1 Timothy 1:15-16)

“I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will praise you: you who fear the Lord, praise Him! All you offspring of Jacob, glorify Him, and stand in awe of Him, all you offspring of Israel! For He has not despised or abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, and He has not hidden His face from him, but has heard, when he cried to Him.”
